Pros / per / i / ty ~

– noun: a successful, flourishing, or thriving condition, esp. in financial respects; good fortune. Also encompasses wellness in one’s health, relationships, spirit, mind, etc. In short, life success.

Have you ever met someone whose finances seem to be falling apart and they’re happy anyway? Have you ever wanted to say, “Hey, what on earth do you have to be happy about?? You’re supposed to be miserable and depressed about your finances!”

There are those who are simply in denial, to be sure, and who hope that the problems will go away if they just ignore them. However, there are others who feel happy even when things are going down because they know a secret. They understand the 7 Laws of Success. Let me explain…

These people feel happy during a downturn because they know the ride never goes downhill forever. By law, it always turns upward again at the bottom – just like on a roller coaster.

They smile now because they’re focused on the longer term; and they’re already thinking about the joy of the heights that life will take them to next.

Now, while we’re on this “roller coaster theme,” imagine you’ve saved for years to take your family to an exciting theme park on the other side of the country. You’ve pictured the laughter, the fun, the memories you plan to create: the joy of being together, the food, the free time… it’s all so very wonderful!

Now it’s finally time to take that trip. You enjoy a relaxing plane ride, settle in at the hotel, spend the night, and in the morning you have a full day to take in all of the theme park attractions.

After entering the gate, you notice that just inside the entrance there are two roller coaster rides to choose from. The first one is called “Straight-Shot to Success” and goes like this:

You get on, and it pulls the line of cars all the way to the top of a twenty-story tower where it ….

… lets you off so you can climb down the stairs to do it again.

Look at the level of enthusiasm the people in this picture are demonstrating, just before unloading to climb down and repeat the experience!

Actually, that would make for a pretty boring roller coaster ride. But in life, isn’t that what we often think we want: A steady, predictable, safe and easy climb to success? In truth, if that’s what we ended up with, we’d be pretty dissatisfied with the whole experience.

So, let’s take a look at the second roller coaster ride called “Joy in the Journey,” which instead goes something like this:

You get on, and it pulls you to the top of a big hill and then turns you loose into a series of ups and downs, loops and turns. Everyone is terrified and laughing, all at the same time.

Even when the people plummet at break-neck speeds straight toward the ground, they have a smile on their face.

Now, is that twisted, or what? Are they in denial?

No. They are genuinely enjoying themselves, because they know that the terror is temporary, that it is an illusion, and that it will come to an end. They know that in truth, they are in a controlled, safe environment that is simply giving them the appearance of danger. Deep down, they know everything is going to be okay in the long run.

Which roller coaster ride do you think would have the longest waiting line? “Straight-Shot to Success,” or “Joy in the Journey?”

I choose the latter. Here’s what helps me endure the scary parts:

Believe it or not, like a roller coaster ride, Life itself is a safe environment, even with all its dangers. Contrary to appearances, it truly is a safe place to be. From God’s vantage point, the things we fear are nothing to Him, including death itself.

Do you realize that the life you live is precisely the life you would have chosen all along? THIS is the life that brings you the greatest joy: the life with all the ups and aggravating downs. Be grateful for your downs… and as you allow your heart to swell with gratitude, you’re putting yourself into the right mindset to receive the best “ups” that God has to offer.

In reality, the ups and downs we experience are provided in order to help us feel. The change from up to down (or down to up) is precisely what makes it possible for us to recognize the difference from one emotion to the other. Without the downs, the ups would be meaningless. The lows help us feel and appreciate the highs.

Bob Proctor says, “Most people tiptoe through life, trying to make it safely to death.” Do you see the irony in that? Instead, we should have courage and press on toward our dreams with full, fearless intention.

Fear not!

As Mark Twain said, “I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened.”

You have a choice of what to think about. So think on the expected highs that put a smile on your face, instead of worrying about the imagined train wreck at the bottom of the hill that hasn’t even happened yet.

It is only when your heart is at peace that it is prepared to receive inspired solutions to your problems.

So, if you’re headed in a downward direction, be at peace. The tracks are bent and will surely guide your rollercoaster car up to the top again in time. It’s going to be thrilling! And in fact, by the Law of Rhythm, you’re already on your way.

"One Way"

Learning to consciously apply the Law of Attraction for a better life is just like learning a whole new language. At first, with every intention to communicate your desires perfectly, everyone makes mistakes. It’s happened to me: what was intended to communicate my desires clearly has often turned into something that I never intended at all.

But that’s okay… it’s part of the learning process. Think about it: Imagine going to a Spanish speaking country with nothing more than a rudimentary understanding of the Spanish language and an English/Spanish translation handbook. (I tell people all the time that I can speak Spanish: Ta-co Bell, Burrito, Chimichanga, Enchilada…)

So you arrive in the foreign country and climb into a taxicab. You open your book and intend to tell the driver, “I want to go someplace quiet and beautiful where I can feel the spirit of God.” So word by word, you search your translation guide and say, “Deseo ir en alguna parte tranquilidad y hermoso donde puedo sentir el alcohol del dios.”

The driver, who is a native of the country hears, “Desire to go beautiful tranquillity somewhere and where I can feel the alcohol of the God.”

Where do you think he will take you??

When you end up at a saloon, you might look at your book and throw it away saying, “This Spanish language doesn’t work!!!”

Do you know anyone who has been introduced to the principles of prosperity through “The Secret” or other tools, made an attempt to live according to the guidelines and then throw it all away because the “tool” didn’t work?

Maybe you’ve also thought about giving up.

Realize that the language of faith is just that: it is a language… of the spirit. It takes time to develop fluency. It takes time to understand the cause and effect of thinking, feeling, and acting in a certain way.

When things don’t go the way you expect them to go, accept the results and simply learn from them. Take the lessons that are available in every challenge and let them work in you so you can get closer to your goal the next time.

Don’t throw away the principles that you know deep down are true, even if the results you get aren’t what you intend them to be. When you end up at a saloon instead of a beautiful botanical garden, it wasn’t because the “book” or the “language” didn’t work! It actually worked perfectly.

Let me give you an example. For a long time I had a goal statement that said, “Money comes to me frequently and easily from multiple sources in increasing quantities on a continual basis. People want my products; God helps his children through me.”

After about a year of this I realized that the part, “People want my products” is exactly what I was getting. Thousands of people wanting something I have doesn’t exactly translate into revenue.

That’s when I changed my statement to more accurately reflect my true desire: “People buy my products; God helps his children through me.”

See the difference? It’s a language thing. We communicate our desires and receive what we ask for. “Ask and ye shall receive” is a true principle. But this language of faith that we are trying to learn comes from a culture that is part of our divine nature, but something we have temporarily forgotten. In God’s world, when we ask for increased faith, He doesn’t necessarily give us faith, but opportunity to excercise our faith. When we ask for financial freedom, He doesn’t give us piles of money but opportunity to develop a growing income.

The more fluent we become in His language of faith, the more peacefully we will grow toward accomplishing all we desire.

As explained in The Jackrabbit Factor, that is why a person who sets a goal to lose weight can very easily end up with more pounds than where they began. It is also why a person who focuses so much on getting out of debt may very well end up with more debt than they ever expected. (Read The Jackrabbit Factor for a deeper explanation on this topic.)

It’s all because we learn the language of intention one concept at a time.

I’m jumping the gun and risk looking foolish… but it’s brought us a few laughs and we’d like to share the fun.

(I’m just much too excited to get the Spanish version of Jackrabbit Factor out to a whole new group of people who couldn’t read it before!)

Please note: We’ve had the book professionally translated, but in order to give our Spanish readers a place to retrieve it, I had quickly create a special webpage just for them. Instead of waiting for the completion of the professional translation (which is in the works), I thought I’d just do what I could for NOW so that the site could be somewhat ready for visitors in time for THIS Ezine/Blog post.

Using the Altavista Babelfish online translation tool, I did my best. For those of you who know Spanish and would like to have a good laugh, come check it out! http://www.jackrabbitfactor.com/espanol.php

If you don’t speak Spanish, here’s an example of the lingual mess I created:

English: “Don’t worry, the book was translated professionally. We’re sorry for the translation errors on this webpage!”

Translated to: “No se preocupe, este libro fue traducido al español profesionalmente. ¡Estamos apesadumbrados para los errores de la traducción en este Web page!”

Which actually says something like: “One does not worry, this book was translated the Spanish professionally. We are grieved for the errors of the translation in this Web page!”

Even better than that, here are a few of my glowing testimonials. Wouldn’t these comments make YOU want to read my book? (LOL)

“Within a pair of weeks I received the promotion to the director and an important increase of the pay… To Harper”

“I tripled to my retired rent and my husband of its work of the day… To say the information is to change of the life would be an underestimation! Thanks! – Marnie”

“… we will double really to our rent the east next year. Thanks, Leslie, to share these principles… CREALMENTE WORK! What excites more to me, is than there is no limit to which we can reach in the future! Thanks again! It smooths H”

Alas, we are grieved for the “errors of the translation.” We believe they will be corrected within a day or two. Until then, feliz lectura! Please invite your Spanish-speaking friends to get a copy in their own language at no charge! http://www.jackrabbitfactor.com/espanol.php

Now, this whole experience has made me think about the principles of prosperity in a whole new light. Learning how to consciously utilize the Law of Attraction in my life has been like trying to learn a new language. An underdeveloped understanding of Spanish may be enough to get me to the bathroom in a Mexican restaurant south of the border, but it may not help me when I need to navigate my way through town in search of a post office.

An underdeveloped understanding of the Law of Attraction may help you accomplish something on one level, but a continued study of the “language” and practicing it often is what may be required to re-invent the most significant aspects of your life. Setting goals and applying the Laws of Success haphazardly can create confusion in the Universe, the same way an underdeveloped understanding of Spanish can get you unexpected or disappointing results with the taxi driver.

Keep learning, keep studying, and keep practicing!  You’ll get there!

I’ve had a few challenges this week… character building experiences… and there is one phrase that, for a couple days, kept coming to mind at least once an hour. A good friend and mentor of mine named Ken Pierce gave me this advice many years ago. At times when I have been in a slump, discouraged by a perceived lack of progress, or when my objectives keep meeting with obstacles, the words “never say whoa in a mudhole” continue to return to my mind.

What does it mean? Well, if I am in a horse-drawn wagon and have to go through a mud hole, I’d be a fool to stop and wallow in it. The longer I stop, the deeper I could sink, and the harder it would be to get out of it.

Ken taught me that when you’re in a mud hole, you’ve got to accelerate instead! Get through it! Remember why you set out on the journey in the first place, and drive on, with more energy than ever!

Sometimes the mudhole is in reality a terror barrier. If you’ve got a dream for prosperity that you’ve been running toward, and suddenly everything appears to be falling apart, that’s when you have to spend more time picturing the results you want and less time emotionalizing over appearances.

Maybe you’ve heard it this way: “Fear knocked on the door, Faith answered… and no one was there.” Most of the time, the thing you fear is nothing more than an illusion in your own mind… it is imagining worst case scenarios that haven’t even happened yet, nor may they ever. It’s using the law of attraction against yourself.

Difficult things will happen to us on our life’s journey, that’s part of the experience. But we can choose to deal with them if and when they happen, rather than expending energy worrying about things that may never manifest. Why would we want to suffer through it more than once? Besides, as James Ray says, “You can’t worry enough about a problem to fix it.”

By the Law of Polarity you can be sure that when things look their worst, there is, in reality, the potential for an equal and opposite “good” to come out of it. My flight from Las Vegas to home on Monday was memorable, and is one reason why I will always try to fly Southwest airlines when I have a choice.

Just a little positive energy from one person can create a ripple effect that has no bounds.

As you watch this video, ask yourself: how do people feel when they are around you? Lighten up, and make someone’s day, like this guy made mine! He put me in such a good mood – it’s lasted three days already!

It’s this kind of ‘going the extra mile’ that deserves a big fat tip.

Here are some of the other one-liners that didn’t get caught on tape:

“…and if somehow this flight from Las Vegas to Phoenix becomes a CRUISE, your seat cushion may be used as a floatation device…”

“….And during the flight, if you don’t like our service, we have 6 exits located here, and here, and there…”

“Okay, folks, we’re cleared for take off… be sure your seat belt is securely fastened, because we’re going to go reeeeeeeally, reeeeeeeally FAST.”

Leslie in Indonesia with older brother and sisters, 1981

For 3 years my family lived in southeast Asia – first in Singapore and then in Jakarta, Indonesia.  My dad worked contracts in the semi-conductor industry and we had some amazing experiences as a family.  (I’m the youngest girl pictured at the left.)

However, I was awkward and clumsy – growing fast and becoming taller than nearly everyone else, (even the grown men of Jakarta) and even if that hadn’t been the case, let’s face it, it’s a tough age, anyway.

I also felt different because of my religious background, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a community almost completely Muslim.

But religious diversity was the least of my insecurities. In fact, my best friend was the daughter of a Hindu mother and a Jewish father, and I was able to learn about some of the traditions of those cultures as well.

(I believe it was during this time that I began to appreciate religious and cultural diversity.  I learned that truth seekers cling to truth wherever they find it, and prefer to build on beliefs they share with others rather than argue about disagreements.)

Anyway, my insecurities really stemmed from the common concern among young women that they are ugly, or not cool enough, or not likable.  Even the most beautiful of young women tend to think they aren’t beautiful enough.

The good news is that something else happened when I was 12.

It was one of the best things my parents could have done for me at the age when I was searching for my self-worth…

They gave me the opportunity to hear motivational speakers tell me how amazing and wonderful I was, to show me the beauty inside of me, so that when I returned to school and had the popular girls making fun of my clothing (or red hair or height or whatever), I had an inner assurance that said I had value, no matter what.

It was a summer church camp called, “Academy for Girls”.  Even though it was primarily for LDS girls, my best friend (with her Hindu and Jewish background) came with me and loved it, too.

Leslie as a counselor for Academy for Girls, 1990

That’s when I realized that true principles are true no matter who you are or where you come from.  It sort of leveled the playing field for me and helped me realize that we have so much in common with all people around the world who view themselves as children of God.

I loved how I felt in those classes.  I felt like I could accomplish anything in life.

It was right then and there that I decided I wanted to grow up and be a motivational speaker.  When I was 18 I returned to the Academy as a counselor.  (I’m on the ground in the picture at the right.)

Look at what a simple seed planted at age 12 can do.

The experience gave me the strength I needed to avoid peer pressure, and to develop a desire to help others feel better about themselves, too… even at the risk of ridicule from others.

Would you like that for your daughter?

Would you like to give her the advantage that can put her on a path to becoming all she can be?

Time to Blossom event 2010

Consider the “Academy for Girls” of 2010.  It’s got a different name, TIME TO BLOSSOM, and it’s only for 1 week instead of two, and instead of being at Brigham Young University in Utah, it’s at the Hilton Hotel here in Mesa, Arizona (where I live now), but one of the speakers is even the same one who spoke to ME when I was 12!!!!

Check it out:

Registration for June’s event ends in a few days!  Tell them Leslie Householder sent you!

I want to tell you about something similar to what helped me have the confidence and self-esteem I needed to navigate the scary teenage years.

It’s cheaper than Especially for Youth and focused on an experience without the distraction of boys!  (Believe me, that makes a difference…)

June 14-18 LDS Young Women’s Conference in Mesa, AZ

It’s a unique 5-day program where young LDS women spend a week away from home in a fun and safe environment learning from exceptional speakers and developing their spiritual side.

The conference will help each young woman to understand her self-worth, to know that she is a beautiful daughter of God, and to discover her potential to make a difference in the world.

This life-changing week will empower young women with inner strength, courage, and confidence to reach their potential and find lasting happiness.

With how-to’s of makeup, fashion and modeling, great entertainment, service opportunities, and activities that will boost confidence, increase their relationship with God, and help girls become the best they can be.

It’s put together by some of the most amazing women I know, patterned after, and masterminded with one of the originators of the legendary Academy for Girls (the program I attended when I was 12 and 13, and for which I returned as a counselor at age 18.)

Speakers include:

John Bytheway – Motivational Speaker

You’ve asked for it – and we’re thinking about it…

Our family is going across country to be in upstate New York from July 2-18 and we’re considering making it a ROAD trip, so we can stop and meet more of our readers and hold a few seminars on the way there, and/or on the way back.

Where shall we go?

We need volunteers who live somewhere OTHER than the western states to help us host an event – so if you want us to come to YOUR area, post your location recommendations below with the following information:

1) Your location

2) The nearest major city

2) Whether you can help put it on (researching locations, helping us set up before and take down after, help us during the event, etc.)

I look forward to hearing from you!

Leslie

Recently I had a chat with my personal friend pictured below, the internationally respected, best selling author Dr. Joe Rubino. He mentioned that he had made a dramatic discovery that directly relates to anyone’s ability to attract their dream life.

Extensive research has shown that over 85% of us have some degree of Self-Esteem deficit! At first, I was a little skeptical when I heard this Shocking Statistic.

But, sadly, it’s true. Countless case studies support this statistic. The worst part about it is that a deficiency in your self-esteem level is often so subtle that you don’t readily notice it until you thoroughly examine yourself.

Read below to what Dr. Joe Rubino has to say about self-esteem:

Yours in high self-esteem,

Leslie Householder

My friend, Joe Rubino

Dear  Reader,

Over the past 18 years, I have personally coached more than 1000 people to make their lives and businesses work more optimally. My research and coaching experiences have convinced me that diminished Self-Esteem is the #1 cause of not living one’s dream life.

Not having strong self-esteem in every area of your life almost invariably leads to things like:

* Fear of Failure
* Procrastination
* Feeling Unfulfilled
* Being Frustrated or Angry
* Feeling Unloved or Unlovable
* Feeling Nervous or Shy
* Being Indecisive
* And many more uncomfortable feelings that keep you from realizing your full potential and attracting abundance, meaningful relationships, happiness, and fulfillment.

I estimate that at least 85% of the world’s people experience these types of unpleasant feelings due to diminished self-esteem – so there’s a pretty good chance you may too!

The good news is that I created a free 45 minute audio recording called “7 Steps to Soaring Self Esteem” that will explain all about how you can reclaim your self-esteem and live your best life. I’m making it available to you along with a complimentary membership in my Success Club ($129 Value, Yours Free!) just for checking out the work we do to champion self-esteem as part of The Self Esteem System.

So many have found this book to be truly life-impacting. I believe that you will too!

See for yourself HERE

I have put my 18 years of research, experiences, and insights into this system to explain clearly how anyone can overcome their lacking self-esteem challenges simply and with velocity…to live their best life.

The Self Esteem Book and System will assist you too to:

  • Heal your painful past
  • Carefully assess your current state of affairs

I released the Jackrabbit Factor book in 2005, and then in 2006 the real life lessons began!

What I’ve taken from those experiences has been amazing.  I’m grateful for every one of them, even though thinking right in the middle of it all was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life!

Now, before I doing the call, I told my subscribers:

I love the principles in Jackrabbit Factor.  They’ve helped me and thousands of people reach goals that were previously out of reach.

But I must confess – I’ve learned some hard lessons since I wrote the book, and I’m going to share them in a special teleclass on 1/14/10.

Some of what you’ll hear has not been revealed anywhere else,  and I hope I don’t regret doing this.  I risk losing some credibility by choosing to be as transparent as I plan to be on this call.

However, if it helps YOU avoid some of the pain I’ve dealt with, then it will have been worth it.

So anyway, if you were able to listen in, please give us your feedback below.  (It will help me know whether I should regret being that honest, or whether I should plan to do more of it in the future with other lessons we’ve learned!)
